Praise & Music Ministry

Colossians 3:16-17

PURPOSE FOR CORPORATE WORSHIP:

We at FBCMI believe that God calls the church to gather together and worship corporately (Acts 2:42-47). Our Sunday services are a way of celebrating the work of the Gospel together (Colossians 3:16). We come together to remember God's great story and our humble participation in it (1 Corinthians 11:24-26; Ephesians 2:11-22). We do this in a variety of ways including preaching, teaching, singing, prayer, stories of life change, baptism and communion (1 Timothy 4:13; Ephesians 5:19). Hopefully, corporate worship is the overflow, out of and into, individual worship during the week (Psalm 1:2; Exodus 23:12; John 4:23; Romans 12:1-21). Our goal is to equip each other as we go into our local communities. It's there we are a living expression of Jesus's body on earth until His physical return (Matthew 28:19; Acts 8:4; 1 Corinthians 12:27; Ephesians 4:12; Hebrews 9:28; Philippians 3:20).

A MULTI-GENERATIONAL PRACTICE OF GOSPEL CENTERED WORSHIP:

From the youngest to the oldest, the Praise & Music ministry begins and ends with the Gospel. When we gather for weekly rehearsal, we will always focus on the Gospel as we rehearse songs of praise. Our education for every participant will be about the Gospel first and music second. It is our prayer to instill a desire for Jesus, and not a desire for the stage. We also want to instill a desire for humility and excellence in serving the church in music. We are praying for generation after generation of musicians and singers who understand their identity is in Christ - not in music.

Music was created BY GOD, FOR GOD, not by God for us.
