Day 6, Unity and the Forgiveness of Others

1 Corinthians 1:10 I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our LORD Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.

1 Corinthians 12:25 that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another.

Philippians 2:2 c omplete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.

Romans 12:5 so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.

Romans 15:5-7 M ay the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our LORD Jesus Christ. Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.

Guiding Prayer:

Heavenly Father, we praise You and thank You for giving us Jesus, Your only Son, and through Him, making us Your sons and daughters through His blood. God, we pray that we as Your children would live in this world as members of one another with Jesus as the head, as You have said that we truly are, and that there would be no division among us. Lord, You have said that a house divided against itself cannot stand and,
Lord, we acknowledge that changing our minds is impossible in our own strength. So Lord, we ask that You would unite us through the power of Your Holy Spirit, that You, Lord, would create in us a unified mind and judgement as we follow Jesus, having the same love and grace for each other that You have shown us. Lord, we pray that our unified love for Jesus and one another would bring You the glory that belongs to You and You alone, in Jesus’ name we pray. Amen! (Eph. 1:7, Eph. 5:23, Rom. 12:5, Mark 3:25, John 15:5, 1 Cor. 1:10, Phil. 2:2, Rom. 15:5-7)

Suggested Application:

If there is unresolved conflict between you and another brother or sister, make an effort today to make it right. Write a letter, send a text or email, call, or meet with someone from whom you are asking forgiveness of or who you need to forgive. Do not let the sun go down today on unresolved conflict, so far as it depends on you. (Eph 4:26, Rom. 12:18)

Suggested Family Application:

Parents, do you really need help engaging your children in a discussion about conflict between siblings? This time can be used to show our family the power of the Gospel to reconcile us to God and others. The reason we seek to resolve conflict is because it honors God and shows we believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ is real, powerful, and active.
